THE EXCURSION TO LIPOLIST

THE EXCURSION TO LIPOLIST

On Saturday, June 18th The NUSANTARA Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship organized for its members an excursion to Lipolist, “the most odorous village in Serbia”.

The first destination selected for this excursion was Šabac, „the first city in Serbia“, in which the members of the Association visited The „Sloboda“ Hotel, one of the town’s modern landmarks that residents of Šabac pride themselves on. With reason. For years the Hotel has distinguished itself as an important conference centre due to its elegant conference rooms. Among a variety of the Hotel’s premises, NUSANTARA had the opportunity to admire The Crystal Hall, „a rarely vast hall in Serbia nowadays“, covering even 980 m².

The road led the members of the Association further to Lipolist – the central destination of today’s excursion. NUSANTARA took part in The Festival of Flowers in Lipolist, „the most fragrant festival in Serbia“, which has traditionally been held in June. There is no coincidence in the choice of the time for the Festival to be scheduled. Roses blossom in June, just as girls from the region of Mačva have been traditionally selecting that season of the year to get married.

Among its tourist attractions, Lipolist counts on the ethno village of Slobodan Topalović, pupil and follower of Milić of Mačva, also one of the painters of the renowned School of Painting from Mačva. The members of the Association were also shown „The Garden Centre“, propriety of the Topalović family, which has been involved in the rose-cultivating business ever since the 50s. Another successful business example in the area of Šabac – through „The Garden Centre“ flowers are dayly being transported from Lipolist to all the continents.

NUSANTARA ended its today’s excursion across Mačva in The „Albedo“ Villa, where the members of the Association met Mrs. Milojka Mica Kovačević, owner of this first and only property, located in the countryside and dedicated to tourism, that has been accredited the first category estate. Mrs. Kovačević is a pioneer of female entrepreneurship aiming at developing rural areas and a proud prize-winner of „The Tourist Flower“, greatest award possible to get in Serbia in the domain of tourism, which was granted to her on the World Tourism Day in 2011. Mrs. Kovačević celebrated 10 years of the successful business of her villa this June, and NUSANTARA had the pleasure to congratulate her and participate in the celebration of this important jubilee.
