Serbian painter and member of our Association Tamara Šenekar is participating with other 19 artists in the “I Meditation Artistic Retreat,” which will take place on the small island of Koha Jao Noi, in the south of Thailand. The retreat is organized by Peace Revolution, an organization which strives to bring peace to the world.

Participants were selected from among 400 artists who applied from all over the world. Those selected will spend two weeks at Muktawan Sanctuary doing meditation guided by Buddhist monks and in creating artwork for the “Samadhi-Santi Collection of Contemporary Art”, and afterward, an exhibition will be organized in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand.

“Samdahi,” in the Sanskrit language of India, means “meditation” and “Santi” is “peace” in the north Indian language of Pali language, which was spoken in the early period of Buddhism.
Peace Revolution supports individuals to find their inner peace, to share that peace with their families, friends and communities, with a goal to achieve a better quality of life on the personal and global levels.
“Hence the slogan PIPO or Peace In, Peace Out, which means that in order to change the world, we need to start by changing ourselves”- explained Tamara Šenekar.

On daily basis, artist will have different exercises of yoga, meditation and art, which will be exhibited in Bangkok on the 31st of January 2014. The artwork created during this project, in the form of an exhibition, will visit the countries of the participants, therefore even Serbia.

Tamara Šenekar (30) completed her education in Belgrade at the High School of Design and the College of Fine and Applied Arts. After finishing college, she was a Darmasiswa Fellow of the Indonesian government in Bali, a place that continues to influence her art.
Tamara has been certified as a fine artist-painter by the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS). She has also created art for the Art and Culture Division of the Serbian-Indonesian Friendship Association “Nusantara,” of which she is member.
