PROMOTION OF VIKTOR LAZIC’S BOOK “AT THE HEART OF SUMATRA”
“Laguna” Publishing House, Embassy of Indonesia in Belgrade, the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA, and the Russian Centre for Science and Culture “Ruski Dom” organized a promotion of the book “In the Heart of Sumatra” of a world’s traveler and travel writer Viktor Lazic, a member of the Association of the Serbian -Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA. The promotion took place in the ceremonial hall of „Ruski Dom“ in Belgrade on Sunday, 15 May 2011, at 12 am.
During his journey, which lasted more than 450 days, Viktor Lazic visited Indonesia and was inspired by this world’s largest archipelago, as well as by the famous poem “Sumatra” by Milos Crnjanski, and wrote a book about his exciting adventure in Sumatra.
Director of „Ruski Dom“, Mr. Michael Gandjaevic Denisov, Mr. Dejan Papic, Director of the “Laguna” publishing house, Mr. Milan Varadinović, a diplomat, Ms. Svetlana Gradinac, a professor of rhetoric and the Serbian language, spoke on the promotion, and the guests were also addressed by His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Semuel Samson. The program was conducted and the book excerpts read by Vico Dardić.
Especially for this occasion, a traditional Indonesian dance from Sumatra, “Tara piring” or plate dance, described in the book, was presented under the leadership of Susana Orlic.
Also, Gamelan, the traditional Indonesian ensemble of instruments, was played by the musicians who study at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade. They performed an Indonesian song “Kebo Goro esok Sore”, “Mission Impossible” and, accompanied by the vocal soloist Marko Jelic, and a pianist Sinisa Drudic, they performed the Russian song “Kalinka”, and the Serbian songs “Hajde Kato” and “Tamo daleko”.
Chambre ensemble “Taurunum” under the artistic leadership of Sanda and Ana Dramicanin Vujadinovic took part and with the chosen selection of classical and popular music, enriched the program.
After promotion, in the exhibition hall of „Ruski Dom“, all participants were able to taste traditional Indonesian cuisine and see the exhibition of photographs taken on Lazic’s trip to Russia.
