President Nikolic honoured Indonesian Ambassador

On the 24th of October 2014, Serbian president Tomislav Nikolic decided to honour Indonesian Ambassador with the medal of second order Serbian flag. He’s decision considered Ambassador’s merits in strengthening cooperation and friendly relations between Serbia and Indonesia.

After delivering the medal in Serbian Presidency on the 6th of November 2014, Ambassador of Indonesia expressed his thankfulness and said that, throughout these 4 years in Serbia, he’d gained many friends, among whom is Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic. He said that Nikolic has been his true friend, brother and mentor.

Samson told Nikolic that Serbia would now have two ambassadors in Jakarta, and that He himself would be one of them.

“This medal is not only recognition of my own merits, but also acknowledgement for strengthening cooperation between Serbia and Indonesia”, said Samuel.

He reminded us that, while starting his duty as an ambassador four years ago, he’d promised he would give the best of him to continue and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, considering their traditionally good relationship. He also reminded us that the 4th of November had marked 60 years of diplomatic relationship between Serbia and Indonesia.

“As I’m leaving my second homeland, I’m not uttering farewells, but ‘See you again’”, said Indonesian Ambassador.

He also thanked to Serbian Patriarch Irinej and Serbian Orthodox Church for their honest support, saying that they were very useful for completing his function he had in Serbia.

President of the Commission for Medals Oliver Antic, reasoned that Indonesian Ambassador had been very engaged in promoting cooperation between the two countries, and especially insisted on revitalization of political dialog of the highest level. He also said that Serbia and Indonesia are connected by traditional friendship and that Ambassador Samuel had, according to Indonesian politics, supported Serbian side in the issue of Kosovo.

Before his appointment as an ambassador of Indonesia in Serbia, Samuel Samson was active in Indonesian political life and in national oil company.

He was general secretary of Indonesian party for justice and unity, party which was the coalition partner in Indonesian Government in two mandates, from 2014 to 2009, and from 2009 to 2014.
