MEMBERS OF NUSANTARA ASSOCIATION TOOK PART IN MARKING THE INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDONESIA IN BUCHAREST
At the initiative of the Indonesian Defense Attaché in Belgrade, Colonel Agoes Joesni, and at the invitation of the Indonesian ambassador in Bucharest, HE Marianna Sutadi, members of the Gamelan ensemble of the Embassy of Indonesia in Belgrade, took part in the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Independence Day of Indonesia in Bucharest.
The reception marking the Independence Day was organized in the “Crowne Plaza” hotel on September 12, 2011. It was attended by many distinguished guests, including Minister of Forestry and Environment and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice of Romania.
The reception was also attended by the Ambassador of Serbia HE Mr. Zoran S. Popovic, the Serbian Defense Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Mladen Djordjevic, Third Secretary Mrs. Isidora Djordjevic and counselor for consular affairs, Mrs. Aleksandra Djuric.
Members of the “Nusantara” Association – Mirjana Jankovic, Marko Jelic, Benny Enrico Napitupulu, Zarko Pavlovic, Nebojsa Vidakovic and the members of Gamelan orchestra of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, Mirjana Sukiban, Dyanih Mahesthi and Dragoslav Glogonjac, were playing traditional Javanese songs all the evening long.
Assistant Defense Attaché Major Herbert, as the organizer of the stay in Bucharest organized a sightseeing tour of the capital city with the visit to the Romanian Place of the Parliament, which is the largest in the world, and a trip to Transylvania and the castle of count Dracula.
Gamelan music has been taught at the Embassy of Indonesia in Belgrade for almost ten years. The conductor of the orchestra is Sutikno Sukiban, a creative connoisseur of this traditional music.
