MEMBERS OF NUSANTARA ASSOCIATION PERFORMED TRADITIONAL INDONESIAN MUSIC IN ZAGREB
On September 27 and 28 2013, at the invitation of the Indonesian Embassy in Zagreb and H.E. Ambassador Agus Sardjana, cultural and artistic groupincluding the members of the Gamelan Orchestra and members of a dance troupe of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, visited the capital city of Croatia.
On September 28, Indonesian Embassy in Croatia, in cooperation with Cultural Centre Tresnjevka, organized a presentation: “The beauty of Indonesia – Presentation of gamelan music and traditional dance”, which was officially opened by Ambassador Sardjana.
Dance troupe and Gamelan Orchestra of the Indonesian Embassy in Serbia presented traditional Indonesian dances and music. Visitors were also able to enjoy the gastronomic delights of Indonesian cuisine and get to know various opportunities for studying in Indonesia.
Especially for this occasion, all interested visitors were able to try Gamelan instruments in the music workshop. The members of the Gamelan Orchestra were explaining how each instrument was called, what it meant and how it was played.
Ambassador Agus Sardjana said he was pleased because the Gamelan orchestra included the members of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara” from Serbia and congratulating the jubilee, the tenth anniversary, announced that the Embassy of Indonesia in Croatia was planning to officially establish the association of Croat and Indonesian friendship in Zagreb.
The representatives of “Nusantara” Association from Serbia will most likely attend the ceremony of establishing such an association and share their experience with colleagues in Zagreb.
