INDONESIANS AWARD SERBIAN HISTORIANS, INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE NUSANTARA SOCIETY
Serbian historians, professor Ljubodrag Dimic, from the Faculty of Philosophy and member of the Nusantara Board, Dr Aleksandar Rakovic, a research associate at the Institute for Contemporary History and President of “Nusantara”, and Miladin Milosevic, acting Director of the Archives of Yugoslavia, received on the 26th of May the highest award of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia for “outstanding commitment to the protection, preservation, research and publication of diplomatic material”, a book in Serbian and English, titled “Yugoslavia – Indonesia from 1945 to 1967: research and documents.” The Serbian version was published in 2014 and in English in 2015 in both Belgrade and Jakarta. Publisher’s Archives of Yugoslavia, and the publication of a book helped the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade, while the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia covered the costs of the translation.
The book is the result of a very successful cooperation between the Archives of Yugoslavia and the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, founded by signing a Memorandum of Understanding archival cooperation in March 2013 in Jakarta. The initiative for this was founded by “Nusantara”, and historians prof . Dr Ljubodrag Dimić and Dr. Aleksandar Rakovic.
The awards from the National Archives of Indonesia for the cooperation were also given Ranko Milic, director of the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, and former Ambassador of Indonesia in Serbia, Samuel Samson.
Prof. Ljubodrag Dimic and Miladin Milosevic, at were the participants of the international seminar of the Asian – African Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement as a memory of the world , and on this occasion they had a special opportunity to meet with Megawati Soekarnoputi, former president, Sukarno’s daughter, Guru Sukarno Putri, the youngest son of President Sukarno, and former Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Serbia, Samuel Samson.
The Association of the Serbian – Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara” significantly helped the development of the book “Yugoslavia – Indonesia 1945-1967: research and document”, and the two authors form part of the association’s management.
