INDONESIA CELEBRATES ITS 65TH ANNIVERSARY

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, members of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade, the Indonesians living in Serbia as well as their local friends, have participated in the celebration of the holiday. 65th

On the 7th August 2010, the Indonesian Embassy if Belgrade organized „folk-fiesta“ on the eve of the celeberation of the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence from the three-and-a half-century of the Dutch colonoial power. After the address of the Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Eko Himawan, the participants of the „folk-fiesta“ started moving for a long walk accross the green resitental area of Dedinje, for phisical recreation, enjoyed the happy hours, which understandably included raffles and karaoke, as well as the awarding of the prizes for the winners in different sport actuvities held in the previous weeks. The „folk-fiesta“ was participated by the members of the Indonesian community in Serbia, members of the Indonesian Embassy and members of the Serbian-Indonesian Association of Friendship „Nusantara“ as well. Though, traditionally, the „folk-fiesta“ organized in the Day of Independence itself, 17th August, this year, due to the Moslem’s fasting month „Ramadan“ which began on 11th August, the manifestation, which, understandably with rich Indonesian food, was held several days ahead.

With the motto „In the spirit of the 17th August 1945 Proclamation of Independce, we are continuing successfully the second phase of the reforms, for a more prosperous, democratic and just life of the nation“, on Tuesday, 17th August, the very day of the Proclamation Day of Independence, the Indonesian Embasy in Belgrade organized the hoisting flag cermony in the front yard of the Indonesian residence. The solemn event was attended by the Indonesian diplomats and their families, Indonesian citizens living in Belgrade, members of the Serbian-Indonesian Friendship Association „Nusantara“ and the ex-students of the „Darmasiswa“ scholarship program. In this occasion the national hymn „Indonesia Raya“ was intoned, the text of the Proclamation of Independence, the text of the Pancasila (the basic principle of the Republic of Indonesia), the text of the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution were read out and, finally, the sound of the „Andhika Bayangkari“ music was echoed.

At the official reception on the occasion of the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, held on 19th August 2009 at the „Continental“ Hotel for the members of the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Serbia, the representatives of the political, public and cultural life of Serbia, hosted by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Eko Himawan, was also attended by H.E. Mirko Cvetković, Serbia’s PM, H.E. Božidar Đelić, Vice PM and Minister of Science and Technology Development, H.E. Vuk Jeremić, Foreign Minister, a big number of renowned representatives of the executive and legal authorities, the state administration, the Military and the General Staff of the Republic of Serbia, representtatives of the political parties, representatives of cultural and media life of Serbia and Belgrade. The reception was also attended by members of the Managing Board and other members of the Serbian-Indonesian Friendship Society „Nusantara“.

During the performance part of the program speciallly set up for this event, the „Angklung“ orchestra, made up of a group of employees and children of the diplomats of the Embassy, beside the Indonesian, also played two Serbian songs: „U ranu zoru“ and Tamo daleko“ in which the guests were enjoying the varieties of the Indonesian excellent cuisine presented.

In this year, again, due to the Ramadan, the reception was delayed a bit of the regular time, after the fasting hours.
