In the period from September 5 to September 7, 2012 an Indonesian cultural-artistic delegation visited Belgrade. The delegation included “Indonesian Children-Youth Choir Cordana” (Paduan Suara Anak Indonesia) from Jakarta. During its Balkan tour the Choir came to Serbia to take part in a formal diplomatic reception on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the independence of Indonesia, which was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade.

At the initiative of “Nusantara” Association, the Indonesian choir “Cordana” on September 5, 2012 was the guest of the choir “Moderato Cantabile” of the Music School “Davorin Jenko” in Belgrade, whose conductor, Professor Slavica Smiljanic Markovic is the member of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara”.

In addition to mutual introducing and socializing, the two choirs have rehearsed together and learned Indonesian and Serbian anthems “Indonesia Raya” and “Boze pravde”, as well as famous Indonesian and Serbian songs “Tanah Airku” and “Tamo daleko.”

Mrs. Sladjana Segavcic, Principal of the Music School “Davorin Jenko” said that the visit of the Indonesian choir to the School was an important event for both choirs and that particularly curious was the fact that the Indonesian choir learned to sing the anthem of Serbia which was composed by Davorin Jenko, a composer whose name the school bears.

The founder and conductor of the Indonesian choir “Cordana” Aida Swenson Simanjuntak expressed gratitude to the principal and conductor of the choir of the Music School “Davorin Jenko” for the hospitality, wishing that the choir “Moderato Cantabile” of the Music School “Davorin Jenko” would visit Indonesia. In appreciation, the choir conductor Aida Swenson gave Mrs. Segavcic, the school principal a doll from traditional Indonesian mythology.

On this occasion, the principal Sladjana Segavcic signed a collective application and the choir “Moderato Cantabile” of the Music School “Davorin Jenko” became a collective member of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara.”

On behalf of the Association, the event was attended by a Chairman of the Association Dr Aleksandar Rakovic, Secretary General Marko Jelic, and Association members: Professor Boris Vancev, a pianist and Professor Nebojsa Pavlovic, a trumpet player.
