EXCURSION TO AVALA
The Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA organised a trip to Avala for all of its members and their families as well as the Indonesians living in Serbia with their families and the employees of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, marking a day of friendship between the two countries. Apart from the socializing and close get-together of all participants of this event this day was marked by a football match and a game of handball played between the teams of the Indonesian Embassy and the Nusantara Association. The Managing Board of decided to organise this day of friendship in the protected zone of the Avala Mountain National park in the newly-opened Sports centre and the ethno-restaurant Stari Majdan, the beautiful and popular Belgrade picnic spot.
All of the interested participants took part in an organised walk to the top of the mountain, where they had a chance to see the Unknown Hero’s Monument, the work of the renowned sculptor Ivan Mestrovic and to enjoy the lovely view of the city and the wider Sumadija region from the plateau. At the same time they paid a visit to the Memorial Stone for the Russian Generals who had been killed in a plane crash over Avala, as well as the construction site of the new TV tower that was being built on Avala, the height of which, when finished, is planned to be 203 meters.
Also, the members of the Association who like to paint had the chance to make portraits and do some painting in a small, ad-hoc created art colony.
