DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF INDONESIA VISITING SERBIA
Director of the National Library of Indonesia (Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia, PNRI), Ms. Sri Sularsih and her associates visited Serbia.
They were guest of the Acting Director of the National Library of Serbia (NBS) Mr. Dejan Ristic.
During the visit, Ms. Sri Sularsih and Mr. Ristic signed a protocol on cooperation between NBS and PNRI.
The Director of PNRI visited some departments of NBS and attended the extended Collegium.
PNRI is the Depository Library of Indonesia. It primarily serves as a library of the humanities, in addition to several other national institutions responsible for science and agricultural knowledge.
PNRI including four different libraries was established by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 1980.
Establishing cooperation between national libraries of Serbia and Indonesia, National Library of Serbia continues a decades-long tradition of strengthening cooperation with the leading institutions of culture, science and education in the world.
This is the first visit of Indonesia’s national librarians to Serbia. It has been realized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Serbian Embassy in Jakarta and Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade.
The guests also visited “Svetozar Markovic” University Library in Belgrade, the Belgrade City Library and the National Library in Smederevo, Smederevo Museum and Smederevo Fortress.
The last day of their visit, Ambassador Samuel Samson hosted a meeting and dinner for diplomats, embassy officials and members of “Nusantara” Association, the Secretary General Marko Jelic, Board Member Borislav Korkodelovic and Viktor Lazic, owner of the Book and Travel Museum and president of the NGO “Adligat”.
Ambassador and “Nusantara” Association representatives informed the guests about the activities of Indonesia and the ten-year history of the Association, and then presented the gift book “Bridge on the Drina” by Ivo Andric.
National Library of Serbia continues cooperation with more than 230 institutions in the world (national libraries, university libraries, research libraries, Departments for Serbian Language and Literature, etc. in more than 60 countries), through the exchange of publications, guest experts and participation in bilateral and wider international projects.
