DAYS OF INDONESIA IN SOPOT
Initiated by the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA from Belgrade, with significant support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade, Sopot Cultural Center organized for the first time a cultural event “Days of Indonesia in Sopot” from 9th to 16th December 2010.
The event was opened by art exhibition of the members of the Association, former recipients of the Indonesian Government’s scholarship, painters Dragana Mladenović, Tanja Djokić and Tamara Šenekar, and the exhibition of the photos of nature and people by Goran Trifunović, made during his 30-day-sojourn in Indonesia in 2008.
Opening speaker was H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Serbia, Mr. Samuel Samson. Guests were also welcomed by Mrs. Suzana Anastasov Marković, Director of the Sopot Cultural Center, Mr. Živorad Milosavljević, Chairman of the Sopot Municipality and Chairman of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA, Mr. Dragoslav Bata Lukić. Especially for the opening ceremony a traditional Gamelan concert and Balinese dance presentation were organized, and during the cocktail party that followed citizens of this Belgrade municipality were invited to taste the flavors of the Indonesian culinary specialties.
During the manifestation, citizens of Sopot have had an opportunity to get acquainted with Indonesian cinematography, learning programs and possibilities for further education in Indonesia as part of “Darmasiswa” scholarship program but also with the unusual varieties of Indonesia lifestyle and culture by presentation “Indonesia in the shadow of volcanoes and colors of the orchids” by Maria Savin, publisher and globe trotter, member of the Association NUSANTARA.
