DAYS OF INDONESIA IN BELGRADE

The Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship NUSANTARA from Belgrade have, for the first time in Serbia, organised the Days of Indonesia in Belgrade, a weekly event aimed at promoting the strong friendly connections between Serbia and Indonesia.

Indonesia and Serbia have been maintaining traditionally friendly relations for over six decades. The Association promotes collaboration in the areas of art, education, culture, sports by putting efforts in strengthening and development of political and economic relations and co-operation between the two countries, acting as a bridge facilitating the bilateral relations of Serbia and Indonesia. Significant support to the Association’s work is rendered by the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade.

Considering the fact that the present political relations between the two countries are maintained at a highly satisfactory level, we believe that, by its activities, the Association will promote also the exchange within culture, education and other areas with the goal of further bringing Serbia and Indonesia closer.

In view of these goals, the Association organised this important event, which lasted between 1st – 10th December 2008 offering various content. The ceremonial opening of the Art Exhibition of paintings by former scholars of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, artists Tamara Senekar, Tanje Djokic and Dragana Mladenovic, was performed by the Ambassador of Indonesia in Belgrade, H.E. Muhammad Abduh Dalimunthe on Monday, 1st December 2008 at 6.00. p.m. at the gallery of the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation. The introduction was rendered by the art critic and painter Milo Stojkovic. The collection of paintings was selected and arranged by Prof. Branka Gostovic, art historian.

On Thursday, 4th December 2008 at 7.00 p.m. at the Josif Pancic auditory of Ilija Kolarac Foundation, the publicist and writer of travelogues Marija Savin gave a musical-visual presentation under the title “Indonesia – Home of Loving Sun “. The Press Conference at which the Days of Indonesia in Belgrade event had been announced, was held at the conference room of the Tanjug’s International Press Centre, Knez Mihajlova 6, 3rd Floor, on Thursday, 27th November 2008.

The organisation of the event was carried out thanks to support by several firms and companies: Jugoimport-SDPR JP Beograd, Zaduzbinar doo Zemun, Traffic Institute CIP doo Beograd, The Clarendon group, Es Energoservis.
