Ceremonial welcome to our state-religious delegation in Jakarta

On October 22, 2013 Serbian state religious delegation arrived in Jakarta where the Second Bilateral Interfaith Dialogue between Serbia and Indonesia will be taking place from 23 to 25 October.

At the airport “Soekarno-Hatta” our delegation was welcomed by the representatives of the Serbian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and the Orthodox Church in Indonesia.

The priests of the Orthodox Church in Indonesia came to Jakarta from Java, Sumatra and Bali to welcome Serbian Patriarch Irinej. This is the first visit of an Orthodox Patriarch to Indonesia. Therefore, the representatives of the Orthodox Church in Indonesia wished to show Serbian Patriarch Irinej the strong inter-religious harmony in the country. Today, there are about 20,000 Orthodox Christians in Indonesia.

Our state religious delegation is led by Serbian Patriarch Irinej and the Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Dr Mileta Radojevic.

The Coordinator of the Second Bilateral Interfaith dialogue is Aleksandar Rakovic, Chairman of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara”.
