ANNUAL ASSOCIATION ASSEMBLY HELD

Annual meeting of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara” was held on March 24 2011 in “Pancasila” hall of Republic Indonesia embassy in Belgrade.

The Ambassador of Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Mr. Semuel Samson addressed the members of the Association and expressed his content for having so many friends of his country gathered in one place, among whose were the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, the Ambassador Radomir Zivkovic.

The Ambassador Samson looked back at the traditional friendship from the period of former Yugoslavia conceived by the two statesmen – Josip Broz Tito and Ahmed Sukarno. He also pointed out that “there are many mutual plans that could build a firm bridge between Serbia and Indonesia.”

Samson especially engaged himself to further advance the economical relationships between Serbia and Indonesia, since political connections are already on a high level.

“At the same time while getting closer to the European Union, Serbia can also strengthen its connections with Indonesia and other developing countries and members of the Non-aligned Movement”, said the Ambassador.

Samson reminded that during the very successful visit of Foreign Affairs Minister of Republic of Serbia Vuk Jeremic to Indonesia, a document on economy cooperation between the two countries was signed and that many other agreements will follow in the course of this year.

The Ambassador stated the examples of how economy and trade exchange could be advanced. In that respect he also mentioned that Serbia could be the distribution center of Indonesian palm oil, coffee, tea and chocolate.

Denoting this year as the year of Serbia and Indonesia, the Ambassador revealed to the Association members that the first time in the history of the two countries a “Bilateral inter-religious dialogue” between Serbia and Indonesia will be held from 6 to 10 April 2011.

Samson also said that in May in Indonesia, that was among the first founders of the Non-aligned Movement (NAM), a 50th anniversary since the first summit of NAM was held in Belgrade will be denoted, as well as the manifestation planned for September in the Capital of Serbia.

The Ambassador expressed his content with the constant increase of the “Nusantara” members and invited the Association to help the Embassy in its endeavors to promote the cooperation with the institutions in Serbia, especially economically.

As a sign of friendship, the Ambassador handed the Chairman of the Association Dragovan Bati Lukic a gift – a theatre traditional Indonesian mythology puppet “Wayang Arjuna”. Arjuna is one of the Pandavas, heroes from a Hindu epic poem Mahabharata meaning “shiny” “white’ or “silver”, often called “invincible” for being the best archer.

Chairman of the Association expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and said that the Association “Nusantara” will pay special attention on getting the economical relationships between Serbia and Indonesia better for which there are significant possibilities apart from befriending through art and culture.

Upon its beginning, the members of the Assembly, with one minute of silence, paid the respect to the journalist Slobodan Lale Obradovic, prominent Association member who passed away. Also in occasion of the anniversary of bombing, they paid respect to the victims of the NATO aggression on our country.

The Assembly considered and unanimously adopted the new Association Statute in the process of coordination with the new Law about associations based on the recommendation of the Business Registry Agency of Republic of Serbia.

The Information on the activities of the Association in the period of March 2010 to March 2011 was unanimously adopted as well as the financial report for 2010 year.

At the explained proposal made by the Chairman of the Association, the unanimous decision was reached that the Business Plan of the Association for the period 2011-2012 is prepared and adopted by the Executive Board of the Association.

The Assembly had unanimously chosen new managing body – Managing and Supervising Board. New assemble of the Managing Board was elected – Chairman – Milan Korica ,electrical engineer; Vice-Chairman Mihajlo Jeremic, Director of a Project burro “Corny”; Secretary General Marko Jelic, Director of the “Informatika” company. Members are: Predrag Vranes, General director of “S&T Serbia”; Milos Bulajic, Director of “The Clarendon Group”, Miroslav Stojanovic, journalist; Borisav Korkodelovic, The Editor in “TANJUG”; Aleksandar Diponegoro, officer in the Indonesian Embassy and Selimir Milosevic, football trainer.

The Supervising Board was unanimously elected: Chairman-Radislav Milanovic, and members are Monang Panjaitan, professor and Irina Lazarevic, lawyer.

The Assembly unanimously elected the permanent Art, Culture and Education Commission-Chairman – Dragan Zivaljevic, Colonel, Vice-Chairman Liljana Nedeljkovic, painter, and the members elected are: Marija Savin, publicist; Branka Gostovic, painter; Milica Djenovic, student, Tijana Vadnal, Philologist, Viktor Lazic, travel writer; Emilija Nikolic, Academic painter; Miroslava Lukic Krstanovic, PhD Ethnologist and anthropologist; Tamara Šenekar, painter; Milan Cvijanovic, painter.

As a sign of gratitude for understanding and financial support in the previous year, letters of thanks were handed to the donors and friends of the Association.

Kind hosts from the Embassy of Republic of Indonesia and the Women Association with the Embassy, Darma Wanita, have made an effort to have all the members of the Association enjoy Indonesian delicacies.

Thanks to the agile members of the Association, Borislav Korkodelovic and Miroslav Stojanovic, the information in regard to the work of the Assembly and the Ambassador’s statement were conveyed by the electronic media as well as daily posts “Politika”, “Novosti” and “Kurir”.
