AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA ORGANIZED A CELEBRATION ON THE OCCASION OF CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS

On Saturday, January 19, 2013, on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Samuel Samson organized a celebration in a multi-purpose hall of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade.

The celebration gathered diplomats and officials, Indonesian school teachers and the Embassy employees, members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan Organization and “Masindo” Indonesian community, as well as the members of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara”, and the members of the ASEAN-Serbia friendship association, members of the Embassy dance group and gamelan orchestra, all former scholars of “Dharmawiswa” program as well as the students of the Indonesian language course in Serbia.

In his inspiring speech Ambassador Samson said that “over the past years, our life would not have been possible without love, protection and blessings of the Almighty God. Every day in our lives we stumble upon problems, but I’m quite sure that if we put our hope and faith in God’s hands, we can overcome all the problems on our way,” Samson said.

Samson pointed out that 2012 was another blessed year, especially for the Embassy of Indonesia whose officials were able to meet and gain new friends in Belgrade thanks to the many events that were organized. “We hope that our presence here in Serbia will also bring luck and blessings to people in Serbia,” the Ambassador said.

Therefore, Mr Samson expressed his profound personal gratitude and the gratitude on behalf of the Embassy for all the help and support to the friends of his homeland, to the entire Indonesian community in Belgrade, and the members of the “Nusantara” and ASEAN-Serbia friendship association, and the colleagues from the diplomatic corps.

At the same time, on behalf of his family and the Embassy as well as and on his own behalf, Ambassador Samson conveyed the greetings and joy to all Christians in Serbia and Indonesia who celebrated Christmas. “May God’s blessings always be with you, and may the joy of Christmas bring you happiness,” wished the Ambassador.

Samson called upon all present, as well as other people, to “have the hope and faith in God during this year, so that all our work and efforts would be blessed.” “I believe that everything we do should bring peace and prosperity to the people around us, that will eventually create harmony between people and nations,” said the Ambassador of Indonesia.

In conclusion, Ambassador Samson called all those present, “to be together in 2013, convinced that Serbia could increase the cooperation not only with Indonesia but also with other ASEAN countries.

Convenient speeches were also given by the Chairman of “Nusantara” Association Dr Aleksandar Rakovic, Director of the Centre for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth, Mr Zoran Milacic, and the Ambassador of Myanmar H.E. Zaw Tun while the prayers were given by Anglican chaplain in Belgrade, Robin Fox. After that, a symbolic gift was given to the Centre for Protection of Infants, Children and Youth. What followed was a ceremonial lunch with Indonesian specialties.

The celebration continued with a special program for children – delivery of gifts, play for children and taking photos with Santa Clause. In the musical part of the program, members of “Nusantara” Association Boris Vancev and Nebojsa Pavlovic together with Sinisa Grudic, Joshua Arjono and Friedo Samson performed convenient Christmas and New Year songs.

The celebration was attended by many members of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara”.
