MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION “Our microcosms in Indonesia”

On Tuesday, 29th of September 2015, in the Reading Room of the Belgrade City Library Art Fund, Serbian and Indonesian society of friendship “Nusantara” and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, in cooperation with the Belgrade City Library, organized a multimedia travelogue evening “Our microcosm in Indonesia” together with musician Ana Stojičić and painter Miroslav Dukić.

As a scholar of Darmasiswa program of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, musician Ana Stojičić studied playing on traditional Indonesian gamelan instruments on the island of Java. Being dedicated to the knowledge of music very different from European, young artist quickly became an integral part of the gamelan orchestra, and had a special opportunity to be part of many performances of local groups, and a participant in a large number of ceremonies.

Through music, she accepted a huge positive energy the country and the people of Indonesia are having. She lived in the shadow of the volcano, among orchids and orangutans, surrounded by endless rice fields and smiling Indonesians.
She brought Indonesia’s positivity to Serbia and launched many creative ideas, all that by promoting gamelan music, which was also the inspiration for the famous Debussy, promoting calmness of Indonesian islands and extending positive thoughts on our people by acting as a kind of musical therapy.

While Ana Stojičić’s music performance creates an atmosphere of peace and relaxation, Miroslav Dukić, the painter and her travel companion across Indonesia, learned the technique of batik painting and created unusual works of art. Inspired by the power of the spirit of the Indonesian people and culture of this largest archipelago in the world, Dukić created his artistic experience of Indonesia, bringing the Indonesian batik as a world heritage by UNESCO into his painting, playing with colors and the strength of fiery colors.

This way, Ana and Miroslav created their own world, their own microcosm in which they have lived one of the most beautiful periods in their lives.

During the presentation, Ana Stojičić played on one of the instruments of gamelan orchestra, while the presentation has been followed by the exhibition of Miroslav Dukić’s batik painting.

The presentation was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Harry Richard James Kandou, defance attaché Berman Sitanggan, as well as the cultural attaché Habadi Soewedo.

The participants were greeted by Marko Jelić, Secretary General of the Serbian-Indonesian society of friendship “Nusantara”, and Serbian-Indonesian Company “IndoSerbiaFood” has provided the gifts from the assortment of its products, which are increasingly popular and present on the Serbian market.
