EXHIBITION OF DRAGANA MLADENOVIC IN TIVAT MONTENEGRO
After several successfully organized and very well-received exhibitions in the region, an academic painter Dragana Mladenovic presented her exhibition of Wayang Kain painting “Java Dream” at the gallery of “Buca” summer house in Tivat, 16 – 30 May 2013.
Wayang Kain painting originated from Central Java and has its roots in the epics of the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and the ancient Javanese stories. The basis of traditional painting is the theater of shadows, Wayang Kulit which uses stylish flat lace-like leather puppets whose shadows are projected on a large white canvas.
Today, the traditional art is dying in relation to the theater and Wayang Kain is hard to be found anywhere except in Central Java.
Dragana was a student of Tardijanze, master from Surakarta while she was on Java (2003/2004 school year) as a Darmasiswa scholar of the Republic of Indonesia. After the exhibition of her works in Jakarta and Bali, she became an honorary member of the Association of Modern Painters of Jakarta.
