MEMBERS OF NUSANTARA ASSOCIATION PARTICIPATED IN VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION

In celebration of the 13th anniversary of the founding of “Dharma Wanita Persatuan” organization and 84th anniversary of “Mothers’ Day” with the topic: “The role of a woman and men in achieving development and prosperity of the people”, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesian in Serbia organized a voluntary blood donation on Friday, 21st December 2012.

At the initiative of Ambassador Samson, on the occasion of two important national holidays of Indonesia, participants donated blood for the fourth time in the premises of the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Serbia.

The Ambassador, recalling the very good relations between Serbia and Indonesia, said that “this humane action testifies of the great and sincere friendship between our people.” He also expressed satisfaction and hope that, as he said, this little human gesture would encourage many people in Serbia to donate blood, especially in winter period, when blood reserves are low.

Doctor Gradimir Bogdanovic, Assistant Director for Medical Affairs of the Institute, thanked the blood donors and expressed his gratitude for the long term cooperation of the Institute with Indonesians and their friends in Serbia, and pointed out that “in the most positive sense, this human actions is actually a popularization of blood donation and friendship, because basically every blood donation is a desire to help patients.”

In addition to the Ambassador of Indonesia, Samuel Samson and his wife, diplomats and employees of the Embassy, this action also involved Indonesian business partners, members of the Association of Serbian-Indonesian Friendship “Nusantara”, as well as the members of the Indonesian community in Serbia.

“Dharma Wanita Persatuan” is the association of the wives of state officials who are actively engaged in charitable work. Mother’s day in Indonesia celebrates the anniversary of the first Indonesian Women’s Congress, held in Yogyakarta in 1928 which proclaimed the equality between men and women.
