INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA IN SERBIA H.E. MR. SEMUEL SAMSON ELECTED FIRST ADVISER TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE INDONESIAN-SERBIAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION „NUSANTARA“
In accordance with the Art. 11 of the Statute of the Association, in a solemn Assembly of the NUSANTARA Association, held on December 1st, 2010 at the „Zvezdara Teater“ in Belgrade, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Semuel Samson, who had arrived in Serbia in the beginning of November this year, was elected first adviser to the chairman of the Association, based on which he is now officially enabled to actively participate in the programs and activities of the Society.
For this occassion the church children choir „Sveti Sava“ from Loznica conducted by their teacher Mr. Dragan Đedović, who is also member of the „NUSANTARA“ Association, presented to the participants of the Assembly a Serbian evergreen „Gusta me magla padnala“ and an Indonesian song „Ampar-ampar pisang“.
In his welcoming speech Mr. Dragoslav Bata Lukić, Chairman of the Society, wished Ambassador Samson all the best and much success in carrying out his mission in Belgrade, recalling that Indonesia and the former Yugoslavia, succeeded by Serbia, had maintained traditional friendly relations over the period of 6 decades.
In his speech the Ambassador warmly thanked for his election and put forward the vision and objectives of his mission in Serbia for the next three years, expressing his wish that NUSANTARA Association, would actively take part and contribute to the realization of his strategic plan, and hoped that the coming event of the 50th anniversary of the Summit of the Non-aligned countries in Belgrade in 2011, would contribute to the strengthening of friendship between the peoples of his country and Serbia.
It’s foreseen that in the Spring 2011, beside the manifastation planned for September in Belgrade, in Indonesia as well, „the golden jubilee“ of the 1st Summit of NAM, held in Belgrade, would be celebrated.
After the formal part of the Assembly, members and friends of the Association, together with the diplomats and friends from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Belgrade, shared the time in talks and socialization in a friendly atmosphere at casual cocktails held in the entry hall of the theatre.
